DIRECTING 101
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 5:30pm-7:30pm
This beginner-friendly class introduces students to the art of bringing a story to life on screen. Middle and high school students will explore the director’s role—shaping performances, visualizing scenes, and working with a creative team. Through interactive exercises, film examples, and hands-on practice, students will learn the basics of shot composition, blocking, and leadership on set. By the end of the workshop, they’ll gain the confidence to step into the director’s chair and understand how to guide a project from script to screen.
scriptwriting 101

In this hands-on introduction to storytelling for the screen, students will learn the building blocks of scriptwriting—from generating ideas and crafting characters to understanding structure, dialogue, and scene writing.
Through fun activities, film clips, and collaborative exercises, middle and high school students will gain the confidence to put their stories on the page while learning the basics of industry-standard script format. By the end of the workshop, students will walk away with their own short script idea and the tools to keep writing.
