Week 1 of camp is officially underway, and we’re off to a fun start! This week, campers decorated doors, played games, explored camera techniques, and got hands-on experience in the art department—and we’re just getting started! Our Marketing Manager teamed up with one of our students, who is in charge of capturing all the behind-the-scenes moments throughout camp. In fact, the video you’re watching right now was filmed by one of our talented students!
Week 2 of camp is officially in the books, and our campers have been hard at work sharpening their filmmaking skills! This week, students continued building their knowledge through hands-on training and exciting field trips across New Orleans. Campers visited the University of New Orleans Film Department, where they learned more about film production and explored professional equipment and workflows. They also took a trip to Sideshow Props to help prepare props for our upcoming production and got a behind-the-scenes look at the world of professional prop-making. To round out the week, campers visited WYES Studios, where they toured the facilities and learned more about television production and broadcasting. After two weeks of learning, practicing, and preparing alongside industry professionals, it’s finally time for cameras to roll! This week, our campers will put their new skills into action as they work together to film an entire short film in just five days. From camera and sound to grip, electric, art department, and production, every student will play an important role in bringing this story to life.

From camera and sound to grip & electric, art department, production, and acting, every student stepped into an important role on set. They adapted to unexpected challenges, collaborated as a team, and experienced what it's really like to work on a professional film production. Watching our campers grow in confidence, creativity, and technical skills has been incredible. They didn't just learn about filmmaking—they became filmmakers!
COOL Camp offers a unique, intensive, and incredibly rewarding film-making experience designed for aspiring young filmmakers. Over the course of June, you will work side-by-side with industry professionals to bring a short film to life, gaining real-world set experience that goes far beyond a typical summer camp.
Limited to just 35 campers, 6 counselors, and 6 dedicated teachers COOL Camp ensures a low camper-to-counselor ratio, maximizing individual attention and hands-on learning.
The Film Project
We partner with leading industry professionals to select an original script and design the visual look for our annual short film. Campers don't just shadow; they work as genuine crew members. You will leave with tangible film set experience and an official credit on a professional-quality short film.
