Alaina Dunn
Program Director
After receiving her Master's from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, this New Orlenean born McMain Mustang quickly booked a few tv and stage roles before taking a break for self exploration in Canada. It was there, helping a friend produce a cabaret performance that she decided to move behind the camera. Returning home to New Orleans, Alaina began her production journey. She co-founded Blerdfest, the gulf's first black comic convention. She is a board member of Opera Creole. And, she is one very proud auntie. While she does think about returning to the stage one day, her current passion is creating programming that: meets students where they are, sparks interest, builds skills, and uplifts their voice.
During her tenure at The COOL, she has been instrumental in spearheading student productions such as A City Built on Opera, Trapped, My Enemy Within, Gene & Genie, and Locked In. She also produced the award-winning short film Man Boobs through The COOL’s Film Camp, in addition to managing our larger, community-facing events.
